The Java language is one of the most commonly used in the current IT scenario to develop modern applications and as a part of information systems and web portals. One of its most important features consists in its absolute independence from the underlying hardware or operating systems platforms as every Java program run on top of the same virtual machine.
In addition, the strong presence of the Java language in the current Internet panorama makes the language one of the most demanded to developers. In this sense, Java components deployed as a part of application servers or used to increase the functionalities of web pages through javascript or AJAX elements are examples of the vast use of the language in the building of information systems based on the web approach.
This book presents the essentials of Java programming through its different chapters. They cover from the primary data types and basic programming structures to the main features of the Object Oriented Programming model and its most relevant architectural tools such as abstract classes and interfaces. In addition, aspect related to exceptions, data collections and GUI development are also addressed.
